Our Vocational Program focuses directly on learning and practicing Soft and Hard Skills that are directly transferable to independent employment. We train on every step of the process from resume writing, job searching, applying, follow ups, interviewing, on the job maintenance, upward mobility and job transition.
Everything starts with the Employment Profile. This is a unique description of the individual's strengths, weaknesses, goals and employment desires. It helps guide the path to successful, long term independent employment.
Each client will be provided with a variety of options for Hard and Soft skills training. The training groups are mostly small in size and consist of discussions, role play, video examples, hands on experience both in facility and out in the community via volunteer activities for other organizations.
Hard Skills Training gives clients direct, real world, hands on experience. Some training activities are mock or simulated activities and others are real world volunteer activities. Our volunteer activities are 100% transferable to a resume. Some items clients can expect to experience:
Soft Skills Training helps guide our social interactions with team members, leadership and customers. Some items clients can expect to work on:
Job development is a personalized service where a dedicated staff member works one-on-one with a client to identify suitable employment opportunities. This process involves assessing the individual's strengths, weaknesses, barriers, and goals to create a tailored job search strategy. The staff member provides support in finding job matches, preparing for interviews, and advocating with employers to ensure the role aligns with the client’s abilities and aspirations. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with meaningful and sustainable independent employment.
Job coaching provides personalized support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to help them succeed in the workplace. Job coaches work closely with individuals to identify strengths, develop job skills, and maintain suitable employment opportunities. They provide real time on the job training, guidance in workplace expectations, and ongoing support to ensure job retention and professional growth. By fostering independence and building confidence, job coaching empowers individuals to maintain meaningful independent employment and contribute positively to their communities.
Providing inclusion and accessibility for those that have temporary constraints that limit their ability to be in person. This program comprises mostly virtual meetings starting at 9:30 AM and continuing throughout the day. Clients are able to join and stay connected to their peers, staff, and training via any mobile device or computer. This has been extremely beneficial to those that may have extended travel, hospital stays, illnesses, compromised immune systems, crises, and natural disasters. The Virtual Program is not intended to be a primary option for attending the program. Instead, this is meant as a way to continue to provide services and inclusion for any and all with extenuating circumstances. A true and consistent approach to providing person-centered human service delivery.
Additionally, we help clients interested in working in the food industry obtain their Food Handlers Card which is typically required for employment at a restaurant.
Because everyone learns a little bit differently we believe in providing a wide range of activities and ways that people can experience new concepts and grow their skills.
