VCDI and TCDI are all-inclusive programs focusing on independence for adults living with developmental disabilities through effective integration into their local communities, as well as vocational preparation, placement, and maintenance.
We utilize virtual meeting applications (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) to provide connectivity and ensure greater inclusivity for participants than may be achieved by just facility-based programming alone.
We recognize and foster peer engagement, interaction, and encouragement. Peers helping each other strive to meet their goals is strongly championed by administration, management, and mentors.
While not simply social programs, we recognize the importance of simple person-to-person contact and interactions. We attempt to cultivate friendships and establish bonds that may last for a lifetime.
Independent Employment: Job-Seeking Skills
We hold the philosophy that employment brings independence. To that end, our staff train participants daily on the skill sets needed to obtain employment in their local communities. Both soft skills (i.e., grooming and hygiene, making a good first impression, resume creation, mock interviews) and hard skills (i.e., stocking shelves, cashiering, janitorial work) are the cornerstones of our training curriculum.
Independent Employment: On-Site Job Coaching
We ensure the right amount of support on the job to allow growth and development while mitigating errors that may lead to separation. Our job coaches are passionate about supporting our participants while encouraging independence with regard to their vocation placement as well.
Participants at VCDI/TCDI are ready to join the teams of agencies and companies in their communities, and they have a strong and knowledgeable set of mentors, job coaches, and managers standing right behind them. Please reach out to us and ask how you can add the strength of our participants to your company.
