Melinda is passionate about  ensuring that persons with developmental disabilities have an array of quality services and supports from which to choose that maximize their  opportunities to live, work and recreate in their community.  She spent the majority of her career  with the California State Department of Developmental Services.  She brings to VCDI her knowledge, skills and abilities that she has gained through directing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs;collaborating with regional centers on resource development, stabilizing  community placements, developing an array of policy initiatives, negotiating legislation, and providing leadership and staffing to major Department of Developmental Services initiatives.  “In order to achieve a richer community it must include people with developmental disabilities and provide them with the same opportunities to live, work and recreate like every other community member.” ~~~~ Melinda Gonser

Secretary & Treasurer

Diane comes to VCDI with both professional Human Resource experience and experience on a non-profit Board of Directors. She is particularly sympathetic to and supportive of helping anyone and everyone develop skills and personal strengths that help them lead to greater personal efficiency and self-esteem. She embraces the idea of the value of work for work’s sake. “Work is not just about making money; it’s about creating meaning in your life.”
